PHILADELPHIA, PA: A. Harold Datz, Of Counsel to the Philadelphia law firm Haggerty, Goldberg, Schleifer & Kupersmith, P.C. has been appointed Chairperson of Philadelphia Bar Association Commission on Judicial Selection and Retention. The Association’s Commission on Judicial Selection and Retention evaluates persons seeking judicial office to enable voters in making informed voting decisions. The Commission’s evaluations are based on criteria such as legal ability, experience, temperament, administrative ability, integrity and devotion to improvement of the quality of justice. The Commission is composed of thirty members, four of whom are non-lawyers. In order to bring a variety of experience and viewpoints to the evaluation process, all segments of the Bar are represented on the Commission.

A member of the Commission on Judicial Selection and Retention since 2003, this marks the fifth time that Mr. Datz has served as Chairperson. He has previously served as Vice-Chair three times.

Mr. Datz has served in several leadership positions within the local and state legal community over the past 25 years. He currently serves as a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Judicial Evaluation Commission.

Mr. Datz, a trial attorney admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, represents individuals in a wide variety of personal injury matters. His practice is concentrated in the areas of Automobile Liability, Premises Liability and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Mr. Datz was recognized by Philadelphia Magazine as a Philadelphia SuperLawyer in 2009.
